Artwork Inspired by Julia Galloway

Julia Galloway was raised in Boston, Massachusetts and started throwing pots in high school, buying her first wheel with babysitting money. She kept her wheel in her bedroom and carried her pots to school in a shoe box to be fired. She obtained MFA at the University of Colorado at Boulder and BFA at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
Most of her objects are made by combining wheel-thrown and hand-built elements "to expose the sculptural nature of pottery, and the seductive nature of porcelain."  Galloway's work is intended to be functional, yet also beautiful. Influenced by Minoan ceramics, Sung and Tang dynasty court ware, as well as Persian miniature paintings, her work references human form and domestic architecture with form, and recalls floral patterning and organic decoration.

Why did I choose this artist? and how did I incorporate her style?

I chose her because she is a very admirable and recognized person due to her renowned work in the world of ceramics. Additionally, she says that the simple pleasure of molding clay into the desired shape can be incredibly therapeutic, allowing you to temporarily disconnect from information overload and the endless tasks of daily life. A few hours of working with ceramics can rejuvenate and recharge your state of mind.
The way I incorporated her work is by adding animal drawings, maintaining the same shape and similar colors on the 5 plates, each plate has different designs that represent my family members.
